Carmelo Bonanno painting collection

Landscape designer, illustrator, graphic artist Carmelo Bonanno was born in Messina in 1905. Its activity is documented from the 30s, he worked on the decoration of private homes, participating in exhibitions of caricatures and cartoons. Since the 50 works at the satirical newspaper Don Giovanni which takes care of the graphics and even national headlines: "La Domenica del Corriere", "The courier of the Small", "The Gazzettino of Venice", "The Newspaper of Italy" , "Bertoldo", "Marco Aurelio" and others. In the same period it produces twenty serigraphs hand watercolor titled: The medicine, and on the subject of the law, with Lex, also working on the creation of billboards for which follows the prizes. Remarkable its production landscape, especially watercolors, based on natural given explores the possibilities of form and color compositions that cross sign, gesture and matter with results gradually more exuberant and dynamic. Grandfather Carmelo leaves us during the hot summer of 1994. We dedicated this permanent exhibition to his genius inside the farmhouse, where you will admire his works of art. He has been an artistic, cultural and human expression of our territory. It will be a pleasure to share with our guests all this beauty.

  • FROM MESSINA BY HIGHWAY:

    Messina - Palermo, exit Villafranca Tirrena (13km distance from Villafranca). Continue on highway 113 towards Messina. Overcoming the countries of Rodia and San Saba. After the indication PIANO TORRE continue for 500 mt. Pay attention to the small Church of Piano Torre placed on your left and when you see it turn left taking the small road adjacent to the Church. Continue for 50 mt and turn left on the dirt road. At the end of the road you will arrive at the entrance gate.

  • FROM MESSINA VIA STATE ROAD (25KM AWAY):

    Drive from the town, towards Ganzirri, the SS 113 for about 13km. Immediately after the long straight in SPARTA’ village, you arrive in PIANO TORRE village. Enter town and take care of the church placed on your right. So, take the road adjacent to Church on the right sight. Continue taking the first dirt road on the left. At the end of the road you will arrive at the entrance gate.

  • FROM PALERMO BY HIGHWAY:

    Palermo - Messina, exit Rometta (27km distance from Rometta) Continue towards Villafranca Tirrena. Overcoming the countries of Rodia and San Saba. After the indication PIANO TORRE continue for ca. 500 mt. Pay attention to the small Church of Piano Torre placed on your left and when you see it turn left taking the small road adjacent to the Church. Continue for 50 mt and turn left on the dirt road. At the end of the road you will arrive at the entrance gate.
